Overview

We are thrilled to announce the recent launch of Tiny Treks Boston! Tiny Treks is an innovative, outdoor parent-participation program designed for children ages 2 to 5yo.

At Tiny Treks we believe nature is our best classroom. We do know that young children need predictability and routine, so you can expect there will be some elements of musical circle time, arts and crafts projects, themed story time, and healthy family-style snacks.

Every week our Parent/Child programs feature a new destination that explores our open spaces, baylands, farms, creeks, forest, and more - rain or shine - all led by our incredibly experienced outdoor educators. Our teachers are completely focused on your family and sharing their love of children and the outdoors through a rich curriculum each class.

Together, we lift up logs and count ants, explore our senses, dig in the mud, run through meadows, learn about birds and bugs, walk to historic farms, wade in creeks and, most importantly, nurture curiosity and instill a love of the natural world in our children.

There is no better multi-sensory classroom for growth and learning than the great outdoors! For more information, email pam@tinytreks.com.

Here’s what you can expect in a typical class:

  • A musical circle time with movement, rhythm, songs, and more.

  • A family-style snack with a themed story time.

  • An arts and crafts project, when appropriate.

  • Balancing, climbing, jumping, running and a variety of gross motor skills activities.

  • Exploration which incorporates problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Hiking and learning about our environment and living things.

[Tiny Treks] was my favorite of all the activities I did with my sons, and I loved it so much that I decided to work for them.

Meet Teacher Liz, Tiny Treks Boston Teacher

liz.jpg

Liz first experienced Tiny Treks as a parent participating with her son and loved it so much she decided to become a Tiny Treks teacher. A nature lover with experience teaching children of all ages as well as parents, Liz is passionate about making learning active and encouraging kids to explore the natural world with all their senses.

She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University and a master’s degree in education leadership from Columbia Teachers College. Liz grew up exploring and playing in the woods of New England, and later as a young parent she enjoyed nine years in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she developed a fondness for redwood trees and banana slugs.

Now that she has returned to her home state of Massachusetts, she is delighted to share the Tiny Treks program and her love of the outdoors with families in the Greater Boston area.

When Liz isn't teaching, she enjoys experimenting in the garden and kitchen, swimming, and jogging. She lives in Concord with her husband, two sons, four chickens, a gecko, and a fish.
