Having fun at a beach on Lake Michigan.

Tiny Treks developed 14 years ago by Deerfield resident Pamela Worth, is a program designed for families who want to teach their children about the world through exploration of their natural surroundings. Children and their parents/caregivers take short, stimulating hikes in a variety of outdoor settings. Fun activities include chasing butterflies in a meadow, kite flying on top of a hill, exploring animal tracks in a forest, and visiting nature preserves or farms. Other activities incorporate music, art, movement and games. Children learn through hands-on experiences which build self-esteem and encourage a love of nature. Tiny Treks instructors are creative, loving, and energetic.

Mud
Mud is very nice to feel
All squishy-squash
between the toes!
I'd rather wade in wiggly mud
Than smell a yellow rose.
Nobody else but the
rosebush knows
How nice mud feels
Between the toes.
